Interviewer: Did you hear t.A.T.u’s version of ‘How Soon Is Now’?
Morrissey:
Yes, it was magnificent. Absolutely. Again, I don’t know much about them.
Interviewer: They’re the teenage Russian lesbians.
Morrissey: Well, aren’t we all?

Past the Painted Rocks

By Zachary Brady

(Featuring a segment from Stefan Fink’s Lost Boy)

The woods try to hold us back

As we try to push forward words

Once easy to speak.

This path is an escape.

I’ve run through many

Many times before.

But now foliage has reclaimed the dirt,

We must cut ourselves a new path,

That we remember always existing.

I am just a lonely lost boy, playing with

My broken wooden toy. Let’s go off to never ever land,

Everything will be alright in the end.

You are the one who introduced

Me to these wonderful woods and

Taught me a world without bounds.

But your escape is man made

And you cannot fly but stand

On guttered roofs.

For me the thorns, rocks, water, and trees

Offered a never ending world that

Brought me back to childhood.

Past the painted rocks and polluted stream,

Past the vast field and difficult forest,

There was my Neverland.

Now, hand in hand with her, we seek

Escape from the terror I have created

By rushing into the woods.

But the woods try to hold us back

And past the stream we do not find a field

But a bulldozer.

We try to push forward but my woods

Feel far too uninviting even to me.

So we turn around and hope our hearts will bring us home.

Ze Frank → ted.com

A friend of mine at PTV showed me this guy last semester and I had one of my goffy Beard episodes dedicated to his videos. Didn’t know much about him at the time and I still really don’t but I wish I did. He has a way of talking and connecting to people which is very inspiring.

I came across the TED talk above today. I highly suggest watch the talk and then checking out some of his videos from his old Web series.

The man is interested in the way we connect over the internet and he portrays it as the beautiful thing it is.

Here’s some of my favorite videos of his:

Mirrored Worlds Pong → openprocessing.org

A pong variation I made a few months back that originally worked with pontentiometers.

Two player game:

left player:w,s

right player:up,down

My favorite part from this remains the sound design. It was the only thing I ended up extremely happy about.

I mentioned before some of my favorite character designs in the world of comics and have been meaning to tackle this subject again. I came to realize, however, that “character design” is itself a fairly massive subject, and that it would be best to break the topic down into separate…
